Job Description
A painter helper's job is to assist painters with painting projects by performing a variety of tasks, including: Preparing surfaces: Sanding, scraping, priming, sealing, or leveling surfaces to prepare them for painting Mixing paint: Mixing paint, varnish, shellac, enamel, and other finishes Applying paint: Applying paint to surfaces like walls, floors, doors, and cabinets Cleaning: Cleaning the work area before and after jobs, and cleaning walls to ensure proper paint adherence Protecting surfaces: Covering surfaces with cloth or plastic to protect them, and applying protective coverings to furniture Filling holes: Filling cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, or plaster Using tools: Using tools like rollers, spray guns, sanding and buffing tools, and caulking guns or putty knives Erecting scaffolding: Erecting scaffolding as needed Painter helpers typically need relevant work experience, such as on-the-job training under the supervision of a more experienced painter. They should also have physical strength, stamina, attention to safety, and the ability to follow instructions.
