Job Description
A production supervisor manages the day-to-day operations of a production team to ensure that the company's goals are met and customer requirements are met. They are responsible for a variety of tasks, including: Managing workflow Assigning responsibilities, preparing schedules, and monitoring productivity Coaching employees Guiding and counseling employees, and evaluating their performance Ensuring safety Ensuring that employees follow safety guidelines and company standards, and that equipment is used safely Maintaining equipment Scheduling regular maintenance and checking machinery and checkpoints to ensure efficient workflow Verifying production Ensuring that production output meets specifications and complies with company and regulatory requirements Preparing reports Compiling reports on performance and progress, and providing updates to management Improving processes Using Lean tools to identify inefficiencies and suggest ways to improve production, quality, and costs Managing inventory Tracking, organizing, and controlling stock of materials and finished goods to ensure a balance between supply and demand Production supervisors typically need a bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field, as well as at least five years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment. They should also have strong leadership and management skills, and be able to solve problems quickly and effectively.
